Jace's 3 Week Update

Age: 20 days old

Weight: 7 lbs. 14 oz (birth weight: 7 lbs 1 oz)

Length: 21 inches (birth length: 19 inches)

Sleep?:  He actually is a great sleeper at night.  He will sleep from anywhere between 3-4 hours at a time before he gets hungry and wakes up.  I asked the pediatrician if that was ok and she said as long as he is gaining weight to let him sleep as long as we can during the night, but to keep him on a strict schedule during the day.  I've talked to a couple other moms and they all say thats unheard of for a newborn...so we are really lucky.  He is already learning day from night....during the day we let him "play" for about an hour after he eats, but at night we swaddle him right back up to go to sleep.  So far it has been working great and he goes right back to bed at night!  Fingers crossed it continues!

Cry?:  Jace really doesn't cry that much...he whines more then anything.  I'm starting to learn what each of his whines mean....I'm hungry, I'm hot, I'm tired.  Even when he does cry it isn't an ear piercing cry...its a cute little boy cry.  I still can't stand to hear it, but at least it doesn't hurt my ears!

Likes: looking at bright lights, looking at our Christmas tree lights, being swaddled, being held, listening to music, staring at Max (loves the black and white contrast)

Dislikes: being naked, bath time, changing clothes, getting hiccups

Chris' help:  Chris has really taken on a lot of the household chores since we brought Jace home. He does the dishes, laundry, makes the bed, walks Max...it's so sweet of him!  He even gets up in the middle of the night when Jace wakes up to change his diaper after I feed him!  I'm one lucky girl.

Healing?:  I've been feeling a lot better the past week or so...better then I expected!  I've started taking short one mile walks around the block with Jace in his stroller....and it's nice to stretch my legs!  I went to the doctor last week and she said everything looks great.  So I just need to take it easy the next couple weeks until I'm fully healed!  But hopefully, like the rest of the people making new year's eve resolutions, I'll be back working out by the first of the year!  I can't wait!  Jace better get used to the jogging stroller because we are going to take a lot of runs in that thing!  :)

Pictures:  I haven't done a very good job of taking pictures of Jace, but my goal is to get better!  Here are a few pictures that Grandpa Paul took while he was in town last week!  I can't believe how much Jace has changed already!!
