10 months old!

Jace is turning 10 months old today!   What a difference a month makes, he has really changed a lot in the past four weeks.  Since learning how to crawl he has been on the go!  He is so curious, inspecting everything in sight.  He is also learning so much....he can is starting to understand words and some of the baby sign language that we have been teaching him.  It's so fun to see him developing his little personality....his smiles and giggles are something that I look forward to every day.  Here are a few pictures I took with our bear....this month Jace would not leave the sticker alone.  I'm lucky I got any pictures with him wearing it!  :)

Likes:
Waving
Pointing
Dancing to music
Clapping
Giving hugs and kisses (the open mouth, baby slobbery kind - the best!)
Crawling
Being chased
Pulling up on everything
Cruising around the furniture - he even has started only holding on with one hand.
Talking/yelling - hearing his voice

Dislikes:
Being away from mom and dad - he has gotten the worst separation anxiety this month
Being held down - so changing diapers, cleaning ears and cutting finger nails are a battle!

Food:
We really started working on finger foods this month.  Jace was really resistant to textures to start....even the baby food with bigger pieces caused him to cough.  Our peditrician reassured me that it's just something that he had to get used to.  Every day I try to give him something he has to chew/mash up so and he has gotten so much better this month.  We have tried scrambled eggs, bananas, peaches, peas, carrots, avocado, broccoli and blueberries.  Sometimes he has a hard time picking it up, but for the most part he is doing great!

Separation anxiety:
Oh man, has Jace gotten attached to me this past month.  He is attached to Chris too, but not as bad as with me.  When Chris got called up I was so excited to have access to the sitters at the family room at the field.  I took Jace in there fully expecting him to be so excited to see the other kids, including his friend Payton, and all the fun toys.  Boy was I wrong....he started crying hysterically!  The whole week we were there as soon as I walked in the room he would start crying.  I still leave him there every night for at least a couple hours because it is good for both of us, but it is so hard to leave him when he is crying!  Hopefully he gets out of this stage quickly!

On the go:
Wow...this month Jace has really learned how to crawl!  He is ALL OVER the place!   We really have to keep an eye on him now...before I could leave the room and he would still be sitting in the same place, but now he is constantly moving!  He pulls himself up and grabs anything he can get his hands on - the remote, our phones, cups, dishes, you name it.  We have really learned about "baby proofing" this month.  Th toughest part is that he doesn't know his boundaries....so he will try to stand up on a drawer that pulls out and hits him.  Or he will try to reach for the couch from the table, which is too far away, then fall and bang his head on the way down!  I'm feel like I have to constantly hover over him so that he doesn't really hurt himself.  There have been lots of falls already as he slips, misses, trips or loses his grip.  Good thing he is tough!

Learning "no":
So far learning the word "no" has been a fail.  Every time I use a mean, deep voice to say no he laughs hysterically.  And it's not just me....even when Chris says it he laughs.  And if we are telling him to, for example, not touch the TV he thinks it is so funny that we said no that all he wants to do is touch it again.  He is too young for any real discipline...so for now we just redirect his attention to a toy he can play with, but hopefully he will figure it out soon!  No means no, Jace!

Talking/learning words:
Jace is quite the talker.  He has mastered ba-ba, da-da, ya ya, and he has even said few ma-mas...music to my ears!  He doesn't say da-da or ma-ma to Chris or I yet, but hopefully soon.  He has started doing this high pitched "ha" when he wants to get our attention....like when were in the kitchen for too long.  He is also starting to learn the meaning of words.  He knows if I say "look" to look in the direction where I'm pointing.  He knows if we say "hi" or "bye" to wave.  He knows how to sign "eat" when he is hungry.  And he has almost figured out how to blow a kiss.  He is learning more and more every day...I can't wait to see what next month brings!

  1. So handsome! It's crazy how they learn new things overnight it seems like.

We ended up going to the Saturday night game, but Addie did exactly what I thought she would...squirmed the whole time. I ended up walking her around most of the time. Reminded me how much I love our nursery! Addie was fussy in the nursery the first week or so,too. But now she's good with it and I look forward to those 3(ish) hours of nursery!!!!
