River Safari = lots of wildlife! :)

While in Arenal we wanted to take advantage of the amazing wildlife that was surrounding us. We took a two hour River Safari and just enjoyed the amazing scenery. Our tour guide, Mey, was amazing too...he had an eye like a hawk! Before we were even in the boat he spotted a Sloth in a tree nearby. I happened to capture the moment he saw him...see the picture below with mouth wide open! Ha ha! We didn't even have to carry oars because Mey navigated our way through the river. Every now and then he would stop and point out an animal nearby. We saw everything...termites, bats, vultures, sloths, monkeys, toucans and all sorts of other birds. It was a really relaxing way to enjoying the wildlife of Costa. :)

This picture is of a sloth that was SLOWLY making its way up a tree! These little animals basically camouflaged themselves in the trees, but Mey could find them!

Here is a picture of a Toucan! Mey spotted about seven of them in this tree...it took us five minutes to see them! But my camera found this bright colored one in the leaves!

Oh yes! These are bats!! They were hiding underneath one of the trees! Don't ask me how Mey saw these, but he paddled us back up stream so that we could all see them underneath the trunk of this tree! When you got close you could just see them breathing!

What are those large black dots in the tree? Probably your last guess...Iguanas! These guys get all the way to the top to spot predators, prey and catch some rays!

Little white bird...posing perfectly under a fallen tree. :)
