I haven't done an update on Jace in a few months. He's been changing so much lately so I figured I should fill you in on all the new things he's been doing!
Height: 32 inches
Weight: 24.5 pounds
Likes:
Eating (more on that!)
Talking, talking, talking
Throwing balls (or anything for the matter)
Hitting balls off a tee
Reading books
Taking baths
Watching his signing time videos
Dislikes:
Being told no
Being in the car too long (doesn't everyone)
Eating:
Jace loves to eat...he always has. But lately he has gotten much more opinionated about what and when he is going to eat. Being a toddler, the idea of sitting in his high chair long enough to consume a full meal isn't appealing to Jace. But I try and be patient because I know he's not going to starve himself and will eat when he's hungry. I also try to give him as many fruits, veggies and healthy options as I can. His new favorite thing is a smoothie. Since I know he will drink every bit of it when I make it I have started adding more veggies into his drink. So today he had a banana, strawberry, blueberry, yogurt, pea, carrot and milk smoothie. And he loved it! His other favorite foods are bread, cheese, bananas, blueberries, and crackers.
Throwing things:
Jace loves to throw things. (maybe because his dad is a baseball player?) So he will throw his toys, balls, food (a habit we are working hard to break)....anything he can. It's been a struggle to teach him which toys he can throw - the soft, squishy balls - and what he can't throw - (the hard, heavy toys). Also tricky is teaching him where he can throw. He has gotten both Chris and I in the face with hard toys. But he's still learning that he can play catch with Dad, but can't throw at mom when she's not looking. Ugg. Still working on this one, but on a positive note he has a ridiculous arm. And he is definitely a righty.
Naps:
Or should I say nap. In the past couple months Jace has gone down to taking only one nap a day (tear). He now takes one 1:30 - 2:00 hour nap every day. He still sleeps 12 hours every night. :)
Staying busy:
Jace has gone from a content, non-walking toddler who would crawl around, play with his toys and require pretty minimum interaction to a walking, talking, busy little boy. Now he gets bored with his toys and being inside after a couple hours so we have to find more things to do. At home we had gymboree, which was awesome! But here in Port Charlotte, where the median age is like 75, there really isn't much for kids to do. So I'm really looking forward to when the season starts and we are in a bigger city so I can enroll him in another gymboree, swimming lessons and maybe get a membership to a museum, zoo or aquarium. Anything to get him out of the house and break up the day. :)
Signing:
In a couple days I will post a video of Jace signing. He has gotten really good at his signs. Some of the words he still only signs and some he says and signs at the same time. He can do eat, drink, milk, all done, cracker, banana, water, bird, juice, fish, signing, time, baby, and dog. We got a couple more of the signing time videos one, because he loves them and two, because its something educational that he can watch. :)
Talking, talking, talking:
Our little man sure likes to talk. His first word was da-da followed by ball and car. Now he can say so many words....here are some of the ones he has mastered: da-da, ma-ma, pa-pa (grandpa), ba-ba (grandma - not sure why), bye, yeah, ball, car, cracker, cheese (more like cheeeeeeeeese), bread, wa-wa (water), plane, banana, blueberry, keys, balloon, bat, and spoon. He has also started saying go-ball. I don't know if it is his version of good bye or if he's really saying go ball. Here is a little video of him showing off his talking skills! :)
It's amazing how much he has changed since December! I can't wait to see the little guy again :) Miss you guys!
