A couple days ago we found out that Chris wouldn't be starting the season with the team in Tampa. I think this year, more then other years, we are both really disappointed. Chris had an unbelievable spring. He had one of the best batting averages on the team, was perfect defensively while not only catching, but playing first and third, and he was complimented daily on his work ethic and leadership in the clubhouse. But unfortunately, because of the rules of the game, Chris had an option and the other guy he was competing with didn't. Basically, Chris got sent down to triple A so that the team wouldn't risk losing the other guy. I understand the reasoning, but of course, I'm biased but I really think that Chris proved he should be up there. Ha ha! But I wasn't the only one that thinks that...there have so many fans posting on blogs and articles supporting Chris. It's actually been really fun to see all of the people out there that support him! Even the coaching staff had nothing but great things to say about Chris and even admit that the option was really the reason Chris got sent down. Frustrating, but we understand.
But I guess it could be worse, Duham, NC is an awesome city. We really enjoyed our time there last year. And now that Jace is a little bit older we can explore a little bit more....maybe go to a zoo, aquarium, or enroll him some swim lessons. :) We actually have a few friends from the area so we can get suggestions on places to go and things to see. So in that way, it will be really fun. But hopefully we won't be in North Carolina too long and Chris will get another chance to play for Tampa this year. I trust that God has a plan for us....and we will be where he wants us! :)
And since we are about to move and start the season, I thought I would share some pictures of Chris playing during spring training. :)

Hate to hear y'all are headed to AAA again-sometimes baseball rules are so dumb :-) I have a few that I want to change myself! But, I'm sure y'all will be back up in no time and if you need anything in Durham, just ask! Maybe ill come to a game at some point while I'm visiting home!
ReplyDeleteOK the one with the shades and the catcher's gear is pretty bad ass :)
