All the wild horses....and some amazing views!!

After our 13 hour drive from Seattle to Reno, Max and I finally made it safe and sound into our new house at 10:30pm.  I unpacked the essentials out of our stuffed car and started to get ready for bed.  Before calling it a night, I hooked Max up to his leash to take him out front to "do work" before we went to bed.  Our back yard is still dirt and Max would never just pee on dirt (spoiled little guy), so the front yard was our only option.  I barely got one foot out the door before both Max and I stopped dead in our tracks.  Five huge wild horses were standing in our front yard looking at us!  After realizing what they were, I started stomping my feet to scare them off.  They galloped down the street and I started walking toward the grass, but Max would not budge!  He was desperately pulling the leash back toward the house.  I figured at this point "doing work" was not going to happen so I headed back inside to get some much needed sleep.  Well, Max didn't want to go to sleep either.   The poor guy was just sitting in the bedroom nervously barking at the bedroom door.  It took me over 30 minutes to finally calm him down!!

Well the next morning, thinking that he would be fine, I headed out toward the front yard with Max to "do work" again.  Nope.  He wanted nothing to do with the front yard!  I had to walk him a quarter mile down the street before he finally felt comfortable.  This has continued for the past week.  He still won't pee on the front grass!  Ha ha!!

The wild mustangs right up the hill from our house

Well besides scaring Max, the horses have started to annoy me too!  They have been coming down the mountain to get food...or in other words ruin everyone's grass.  Since our grass is so new, the roots are not fully anchored in the ground.  Every time the horses try to take a bite of our grass, they pull out huge chunks of our lawn.  Awesome.  I'm really hoping that they find another lawn to chew on, or we might have to lay all new sod.

Our half eaten lawn.  :(

Close up of the damage...so sad!
But besides the wild horses, I love living this far out in the country.  We really are only a few miles from the freeway, but it feels like we are out in the middle of nowhere.  We have amazing fews of the mountains from our back yard, we can see and hear all sorts of wild life, and we have some amazing walking trails!  Max and I have been taking daily walks exploring the area!  Here are some pictures of our favorite spots so far!  :)
