Indians Charity Sushi Eating Contest

Last night we went to our favorite sushi restaurant, Kabuki sushi and grill, for the Indians Sushi Eating Contest. We have been there probably 8 times since we've been down in Arizona. And were not the only ones, there have been a bunch of other Indians players that go there all the time. The owner, David, loves having the guys there. And he comes to a bunch of the games to support the guys.

Well over the last few weeks David has been amazed by the amount of sushi that these guys can consume and decided that he wanted to have a competition to see who could eat the most sushi rolls. But to make it more interesting, they turned it into a charity event. David donated $3,000 to a local charity and the winner of the sushi eating contest got to claim the donation on their tax return. There were seven guys who competed...Wes Hodges, Chris, Matt LaPorta, Jared Head, Beau Mills, Steven Head, and Aaron Holbert (the Kinston Manager).

The first two rolls went down easy for all the guys. But the third roll was too much for Wes Hodges and Stephen Head...the bowed out. Jared Head and Aaron Holbert were done with after roll four.

Beau, Chris and Matt were the only three who attempted roll 5. But Beau Mills started to slow down and Matt and Chris were the only two remaining. They brought out the 6th roll...it was a HUGE lobster roll. Chris was only able to finish half of it while Matt easily finished it. He was the champion!

It was a really fun night! My parents were there visiting so they were cheering Chris on too. When we got home Chris couldn't even drink water because his stomach was so full. But Matt continued to have dessert! LOL! I don't know where he was putting all that food!
