Last week Chris and I were in Toledo while the Clippers played the Mudhens. Chris went to the field in the afternoon, so I went to the gym to waste some time. While I was there another guy came in to work out. We started talking and he said that his son is a pitcher for the Mudhens. I asked him what his name was and he said it really fast. And I wanted to know so I could watch for him to pitch so I asked him to spell it. So he spelled their last name... Schlereth. We talked for a while longer and he said that he had a booth at the game so if it was raining or cold that I was welcome to come up and sit in the booth. He said that he had to do some interviews yesterday and that the Mudhens had said he could use the booth while he was visiting. And thats when I started thinking that maybe this guy was a big deal.
So I went back to my room I googled his name...Mark Schlereth. Umm..so he is kind of famous. He played in the NFL for 12 years with the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos. He won three Super Bowl Championships, 1 wih the Redskins and 2 with the Broncos. Currently, he is a football analyst for ESPN on NFL Live and Sportscenter. His son was the Arizona Diamondbacks #1 draft pick in 2008 and he made his big league debut the following year in 2009. He was traded to Detroit this past year and is now playing with their AAA team in Toledo. Needless to say, after reading all of this I felt incredibily stupid for asking him to spell his name for me. Such a blond! But we did go sit in the box with him that night, he was a really nice guy! :)
Here is a picture of him...
I love this post! I would have done the SAME thing!! Love you Kel!
