Lately it seems like we have new faces on the Clippers baseball team everyday, but I guess that is to be expected in triple A. Chris mentioned that one of the biggest differences from double A to triple A is the "revolving door." In double A, the team basically stays the same all year. The players play next to the same guys all year...and there is a close comradery that forms during the season. However, in triple A the guys come and go daily. It is hard to get completely comfortable with the guys around you because they are always changing. That's why I think triple A separates the really good players from the average players. Because now, the players have to prove themselves individually everyday and it's much more competitive. Everyone there knows that they are just a phone call away from being in the big leagues.
Lately, the revolving door has been constantly swinging in Columbus. In the past couple weeks we have lost Carlos Santana (catcher), Jason Donald (mid-infielder), Shelley Duncan (outfielder), Trevor Crowe (outfielder), Anderson Hernandez (mid-infielder) and Frank Hermann (pitcher) to the big league team. At the same time other players have gotten moved up from the double A team to Columbus...Justin Germano, Cord Phelps, and Nick Weglarz. Or moved down from Cleveland...Aaron Laffey and Matt LaPorta. It's hard to keep track!
