Life's hard...get a helmet!

Chris learned this the hard way while playing against Kansas City last week. Shin-Soo Choo caught a fly ball in right field and made an amazing throw home in the hopes of getting the third out of inning. Mitch Maier, the right fielder for the Royals tagged up at third and start sprinting toward home plate at the same time. Choo's throw pulled Chris up the third base line right in the way of Maier. The two hit, and in a football-like tackle, Maier stormed into Chris. The hit forced Chris backward and he ended up doing a somersault and landed on his feet. He stood up with the ball in his hand! It was an awesome play. He did lose his helmet in the play, but thankfully he didn't scrape his head in the dirt. Other than a bruise on his side, he is fine. Thank goodness!! And that catch earned him the #23 spot on Sportscenter for the weeks top 100 plays! Woo hoo! :)

P.S. As of yesterday, Maier was still out with a strained neck from the collision! Chris is pretty solid, I wouldn't want to run into him full speed! Maybe Chris should have played football in high school! Ha ha!
