Chris and I arrived back home early this morning from our west coast trip. Chris landed at 6am this morning! He should have been home 3 hours earlier but their last game in Anaheim went 16 innings! Of course that would happen on the day when they are flying back to the east coast and they would love a quick game! I landed at 8am and my amazing husband came and picked me up! We came home and crawled into bed. After about 5 hours of sleep we just forced ourselves to get up so that we could actually sleep tonight! Ha ha! So it's time to update you on our trip...first, there was Seattle.
Chris and I both arrived in Seattle late on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, because of the time change, we woke up at 7am wide awake! So we decided to go out and explore Seattle. We went to this amazing breakfast place called Portage Bay Cafe where they have a pancake toppings bar! The toppings bar was fully stocked with syrup, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, pears, bananas, peaches, nuts, dried fruit, and whipped cream! It was fantastic. Then we walked down to Pike's Place Market. Last year when Chris went to Seattle he didn't make it down to the market...so this was a first for him!
We walked around for a couple hours. We saw the original starbucks...a must. And then just walked around the market looking at all the fish, fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables, and crafts. Chris said I said the word "fresh" over 100 times! "Babe, look at the fresh flowers, oh and the fresh fruit, wow...the fish is so fresh." Ha ha! I'm sure I did, but it was so true!
We were so full from breakfast, but the food around the market just smells fantastic. So later in the day after Chris went to the field, I walked back down to the market and bought a chicken, mushroom and rice Piroshky from a small Russian bakery called Piroshky Piroshky (fitting name I think.) Here's their website...http://www.piroshkybakery.com. What's a pirosky? Well its a basically a stuffed croissant/bun filled with meat, rice, vegetables, and cheese. There are lots of varieties. It reminded me of a hand-held pot-pie. It was amazing!
