Chi-town and a big birthday!

The last week of the season, Jace and I traveled to his 9th state - Illinois.  The Rays played a four day series versus the White Sox.  And I was lucky enough to spend the weekend with my parents and celebrate my dad's 60th birthday!  Say what??  I can't believe that I am getting old enough to have parents that are 60....we will just pretend they are still 50.  That will make us both feel better.  Ok...back to the trip...

We spent the first day getting settled at the hotel and then went to the game.  We enjoyed crisp fall weather the entire time....65 degrees and then cooling off to the mid-50's at night.  I loved the change in weather after enjoying day after day of 85, humid degrees in Tampa.  So excited to have to pack boots, scarfs and a couple jackets!  It's the little things, right?

Testing out the new panoramic function on my camera!
Sitting with with grandpa Burt.
Hanging out with Payton in the tunnel after the game....practicing on the tee!
The next day we went to breakfast at The Original Pancake House where I had my first ever celebrity sighting!  We sat like 10 feet away from Vince Vaughn, his wife and daughter....who is 6 months older then Jace (I did some research afterward!).  It was so cool.  We didn't snap a picture because we didn't want to be "those people," so you will have to take our word for it.  Then, after Chris went to the field my parents and I walked around down town and got Chicago style pizza at Giordano's.  Delicious!

Grandpa showing Jace a horse!

Jace got his first taste of the crust!

He loved it!
Exhausted after all that pizza! Ha ha!
The next day was a day game, so we grabbed a quick breakfast at Starbucks (can you say Pumpkin Spice Latte?) and went to the game!  It was so nice to have my parents there to help keep Jace busy during the game.  Jace would go back and forth from my dad, to me, to my mom....he was in heaven!

Pointing...his new favorite thing!

Love him!
Had to get one of me and my momma!
And of course Dad and I being goofy!
After the game we all went to dinner at Gibson's (well actually Hugo's the bar next door - but they serve Gibson steaks from the same kitchen so it's basically the same thing, right?) to celebrate my dad's birthday.  Jace did great even though we didn't get to the restaurant until 9pm.  The waiter was a lifesaver and even brought us some extra silverware and a side of avocado for Jace....he must be a grandpa!  We had a great dinner....oysters, crab cakes, steak, potatoes and a huge mud pie for dessert.  The Hugo's waiters did a great "frat-style" birthday yell for dad....it was great!  Ha ha!  Such a fun trip...and even better I flew home with them from Chicago.  Help at the games and help on the plane?!?  I got spoiled!  :)
