I got to live the life, at least for a couple days! :)

This past road trip was the "family trip."  The Mariners flew all of the wives and kids of the players, coaches and staff all the way to DC.  This is something that they do for us once a year and it is always one of my favorite trips.  We get to ride the chartered flight with the team and that's always amazing.  These guys are so spoiled...and deservedly so!  They work really hard every day with very few days off.

We did the security check at the field...where the liquid rule is no in effect, you don't have to take off your shoes or remove your computer from your bag...amazing!  And once we get on the bus to head to the airport, we never see our bags again until they are brought up to room at the hotel.  So nice!!  When we got to the plane (which wasn't parked at the airport, but a separate private lot) we were greeted with 5 different appetizers and drinks.  They even made mimozas just for the wives (too bad I couldn't have any).  The appetizers were a choice (of one or all) of a quesadilla, fruit cup, cheese plate, shrimp cocktail or crab cakes!  They had about 10 flight attendants running every which way getting drinks and food for the players before we had even been on the plan 5 minutes!

During take off my tray table was down, my seat belt was not fastened and my cell phone was still on.  I felt like such a rebel!  :)  After about an hour of flying, they passed on the dinner menu.  Wow!  We got to chose from a grilled filet, grilled chicken, mahi-mahi, spaghetti and meatballs, steak salad, hamburger or chicken sandwich.  Each of the entrees came with salad, bread and a dessert.  The food was delicious...I actually think it was better then any first class meal I have ever had.  They continue to walk around with other snacks and drinks through out the flight.  And the finale...a freshly made ice cream sundae!  Maybe it's because I'm prego and love sweets....but this just made the whole trip for me.  Well, that was until I saw the dessert cart...

So this year, the Mariners provided a suite for the wives and kids that went on the trip.  I've never been treated to a suite for three nights in a row...I loved it!  Especially since it was 90 degrees and humid the entire time we were in DC.  Thank goodness for A/C!  They had dinner and drinks in there for us every night.  But again, the excitement of each game was the dessert cart.  And I'm not talking about any dessert cart...this thing had every dessert imaginable.  Brownies, cookies, chocolate turtles, lemon pie, carrot cake, chocolate cake, cheese cake, packs of M&M's, gummy bears, carmel apples, ice cream sundaes...I could go on and on!  And of course...I couldn't resist.  I enjoyed an ice cream sundae every day we were there...that is my favorite dessert, just vanilla ice cream with some chocolate syrup and I am in heaven!

Then we flew home last night...again with the same treatment!  I wish we could do that every trip with the guys, but I know they would get sick of us.  Chris said the flight was a lot louder with all of us on there, especially the kids.  But even with all that extra treatment, I was still exhausted!  On the last day we woke up at 4:30am pacific time, packed up the room, went to the game, got on the bus, drove the hour back to the airport because of traffic, took a 5 hour flight back to Seattle and finally snuggled in bed at 11pm!  I was so tired!  I definitely made me realize how the travel can really get tough on these guys...even with the added perks!  But all-in-all it was a really fun weekend.  I really wish we could have won a couple games, but I enjoyed the extra time with my hubby!

  1. How fun! But seriously, where are the pics from the plane? Is it like first class through the entire plane?
