Touring Duke! :)

After the boys jumped off the 10 meter board, we decided to walk around the Duke campus.  It just happened to be the very first day of the semester.  So picture this...a group of us in our late 20's walking around Duke with two baby strollers.  Yeah, we stuck out like a sore thumb.  People were totally staring at us, but oh well!  We had a great time checking out the campus!

Duke is absolutely gorgeous!  All of the buildings are made from a combination of blue, copper and tan stones.  The grounds are plush with green grass, plants and huge trees.  The whole campus was buzzing with excitement from the first day of classes.  And funny enough, while we were walking someone asked Chris if he was a freshman too.....umm, seriously?

The campus was beautiful!

We made two main stops.  The first was at Cameron Indoor Stadium where the Duke basketball team plays.  It was much smaller then I imagined.  And when we walked inside it was set up for a volleyball game....at that moment I truly missed college!

Picture of the outside of the stadium....had the same rock design as the rest of the campus.

They had these lamp posts all around the stadium.  This one says, "We believe in sportsmanship."

Loving the volleyball nets!

The boys lining up for a free throw!

Box out!

Same date as Jace's birthday?!  Does that mean that he will be a Duke athlete?  :)
After we left the stadium, we went to the Duke Chapel.  This is a very popular tourist spot in Durham. This chapel is breathtaking!  Unfortunately, they were doing construction on the inside so I wasn't able to get too many good pictures, but here are a few that I was able to snap.

We had such a fun day visiting Duke and I'm so glad that we were able to do something "touristy."  So many times I feel like we leave the cities we live in without really exploring them.  We get so caught up in the day to day routine of baseball that we never go out and explore!  So this little excursion was a big trip....yay us!

  1. I won't lie, Duke is a beautiful campus, but UNC is so much better ;-) Go right down the road to Chapel Hill next time!! (if you haven't already discovered-Matt's a duke fan and Addie and I are UNC fans!)
