Chris' first game with Los Leones!

Last night Chris was the starting catcher! Yay! The other catcher left today to go back to the United States....so Chris will be taking over their starting role. Chris said it felt good to get a few at bats last night. He felt really confident at the plate and is really comfortable with his swing. His first at bat grounded out the short stop. His second at bat he hit a single up the middle right over the pitchers head. Third at bat he hit a BULLET right at the third baseman....it was a great hit. And his last at bat he grounded out to the first baseman. But he made contact every at bat....so he was happy about that.

This is a picture of the dugout...I don't know how they fit all those guys in there!

I asked Chris how he felt catching and he said it was really challenging...not because he hasn't caught in a few months but because all of the young pitchers were playing last night. Los Leones, Chris' team, were playing Los Tiburones and they aren't normally a very competitive team. So Los Leones took a lot of their more experienced pitchers off the roster so that they could play tonight. (However they ended up losing by 10 runs....so maybe that wasn't the best move!) Chris explained to me that down here they have a rotating roster, so specific pitchers play on specific days. But the position players always remain on the roster. During the game last night Chris was diving all over the place blocking balls that had been thrown in the dirt by the young guys! He definitely got a work out! Tonight the team is playing Los Navegantes de Magillanas, so this is going to be a HUGE game! Tonight's game is going to be like watching the Yankees play the Red Sox! Should be exciting.

This is a picture of some of the security that they have at the field. I also saw a woman police officer with a sword!

I took some videos from the game last night, but I'm having problems getting them to load. I will keep working on it and hopefully I will have some videos on here soon! :)

Day 10 down...38 more to go!
