Hola! We are starting to get settled in our little room. We unpacked all our bags and put our clothes away in the closet and drawers. The room is actually really nice with hard wood floors and a flat screen TV. We even have a little kitchen area with a sink, microwave and little refrigerator. Here are a few pictures we took of our room and the view we have outside our window. And if you look at our bathroom...yes there is a beday!! :)
The first night that we were here there was a huge concert right outside our window. They had set up a huge stage and they started playing at 10am and didn't finish until 10pm! It was so loud! They had a full band with trumpets, drums, guitar, piano, singers and dancers. There were hundreds of people there during the day. Then that night the music went from traditional "regeton" to latin rap and the crowd increased to thousands of people screaming and singing along with the music. Our walls were shaking it was so loud. It was really fun at first, but when we were ready for bed and it was still playing we were over it!
The baseball team has been on their "All-star break" since Monday. They don't play again until Thursday. So during the day, Chris has been going to the field with some of the American players and hitting coaches and taking bp (batting practice). He says that he has been hitting really good and he is already anxious to get into a real game. But the coaches are thinking about having him hit DH with some "minor-league" type teams in the area instead of jumping into the games right away. The catcher that he is replacing isn't leaving until Sunday, so he probably won't get to start until after he leaves. Even though he wants to play, he says that it will be a great way to really get comfortable before he starts playing with "Los Leones."
After he was done with BP on Monday, we went down to the mall that is connected to the hotel to go grocery shopping. This mall has everything, food, clothing stores, restaurants, grocery stores, hair salons, fast food restaurants...you name it they have it. We went to the grocery store and got some snacks for the room. Which was a little tougher than we thought...this store didn't have a lot of American-type food. We tried to get stuff for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but peanut butter is a hot commodity down here! We had to go to a separate store to even find any and even then it cost $10!! Can you believe that? Ha ha!
Well I guess that's all the stories I have for now! Three days down....45 to go!! :)
Was nice talking to you today you both sound great. Keep writing love hearing about everything.
