Clippers Wives Bible Study

During Spring training this year my room mate, Dara LaPorta, organized a small women’s Bible study. She asked us to name the 5 biggest challenges of being a “baseball wife. Then, once a week we got together and talked about each one of those challenges. Although this lifestyle at times can be very glamorous, there are some drawbacks too. So its really nice to get together with other wives and girlfriends to talk about the struggles we have.

Since we found the Spring Training Bible Study to be such a blessing, we decided to put together one out here in Columbus. Were basing our study off the book, “Calm My Anxious Heart” by Linda Dillow... that title pretty much sums up the baseball life. We never know what is going to happen!

We met for the first time last week at the stadium with a woman named Sumita who works for Baseball Chapel. Baseball Chapel is an organization that provides every single minor and major league team with a chaplain. The chaplain organizes Chapel every Sunday and is around the clubhouse regularly to provide counsel to the players if they need it. Sumita volunteered to help us with our Bible study. She lives in Columbus, is married to a surgeon and has three teenage daughters. She is a spunky little woman standing barely 5 feet tall and she is awesome! I’m so excited that she is volunteering. We plan to meet a few times a month before a game in the family room at the stadium. Even better, we have a potluck and we all bring different types of finger food to snack on for dinner. Then after the Bible study, we can just walk out into the stadium and watch the game, its great! ☺ The guys benefit too because last week we took all of the leftovers into the clubhouse. So on top of their normal spread the guys got chips, home-made guacomole, sandwiches, fruit, “green-salad” and cookies!
