Since the beginning of the season Chris has only had 2 days off!! That is really unusual and a really tough way to start the season. On top of that, the Clippers have had two really long, back -to-back road trips. After 8 straight games at home, the Clippers went on a 8 day trip to Allentown, PA and Scranton, PA, then home for 4 days, then back on the road for another 8 day to to Gwinett, GA and Charlotte, NC. Chris finally got home late Tuesday night and we enjoyed his second off day of the season yesterday! It was so nice to just spend the whole day together! :)
As much as Chris probably just wanted to implant himself on the couch, I had a full day planned! It's tough because I sit at home all day when he is on the road, so when we have a day together all I want to do is get out of the apartment. Yesterday, we walked about a mile (and it was actually Chris' idea to walk) to a great breakfast restaurant named "First Watch." Then from there we walked about another mile to "COSI," the Center of Science and Industry. They had a Titanic exhibit that we both really wanted to check out. When we got there, however, it wasn't quite the relaxing "museum" atmosphere we were hoping for....there were kids EVERYWHERE!!! The COSI has a lot of hands on exhibits for kids and nearly every school in the county were there yesterday. Ha ha!! But once we got inside the Titanic exhibit it was fine...the schools were touring different exhibits. Thank goodness!!
When we walked in, we were given to "boarding passes" with names from individuals that were actually on the titanic. Chris was a first class passenger and I was a third class passenger with two kids. The exhibit was so cool...they had a bunch of old artifacts, quotes and information. They even had different rooms set up to imitate a part of the boat with actors dressed up and in full character telling us about the boat. Then at the end of the exhibit they had a list of the survivors so you could see if your passenger survived. And I'm happy to say that both Chris and I lived! Yay!
After we were done with COSI, we went headed back home, another mile walk. We ended up sitting on the couch for the rest of the day. We were both so tired from all the walking! However, before American Idol started we did make it to the car so we could drive to our favorite ice cream place, Jeni's. Chris and I split the Buckeye Sundae which was AMAZING! Then, came back home to watch idol. This was a big night in the Gimenez household...not only have we watched this season from start to finish, but Chris had some money on the line. In spring training Chris and Matt LaPorta split the $100 buy-in for the American Idol pool. Once the show got down to 12 people, the players did a random drawing. Chris and Matt chose Lee Dewyze!! And hopefully this doesn't spoil it for anyone, but Lee won!! Chris and Matt collectively are now $1000 richer!! Woo hoo!! Chris was walking around the apartment like he just won the lottery! Ha ha!!
It was such a fun day! And we are lucky enough now that we have two more off days in the next couple weeks!! Can't wait!
P.S. For all you Sex in the City girls out there....I'm definitely going to see the second movie today!! A group of us girls are going to an afternoon show, dinner and then the baseball game!! Yay!! I can't wait!! :)
