Chris' 2nd Debut

Chris' 2nd debut was on July 11, 2010 versus the Tampa Bay Rays. They play in the Tropicana Dome. Weirdly enough, his last debut was also in a dome. One June 4, 2009, Chris played his first ever MLB game versus the Minnesota Twins in their old stadium! I thought that was really weird. Last year Chris started at first base, but on July 11, 2010 Chris started the game as catcher! He is now the official back-up catcher, whereas last year he was a super utility player. He can still obviously play all of the other positions, but at least now he as a specified role on the team. Chris faced one of the best pitchers in baseball, Jeff Neiman. But this isn't the first time that Chris has faced him. Jeff went to Rice University and Chris played against them every year while attending UNR. Needless to say Jeff still had Chris' number during the game in Tampa, but Chris did show some speed when he reached first on a sacrifice bunt when the 2nd baseman forgot to cover first base. A hit is a hit!! Chris says, "It goes down as a line dive in the books!" Ha ha!

Chris says that he forgot how nice it was to be in the big leagues because of all the amazing perks....especially the food! They have all types of food available to them before, during and after the game. Some of the Chris' favorites are salmon, filet mignon and sushi. They have any type of beer and candy that you can imagine. There is a chef at every place that will cook yo whatever your want. And some fields even have menus that you can order from! The team plane sounds awesome too! They don't have to turn off their cell phones or wear seat belts. They have any type of food and drink served to them. They get an entire row to themselves. And even better this year, the plane has been upgraded! now they have satellite TV that they can watch on the flight. I'm so jealous!

We were both really excited that he got called up 2 days before the all-star break. So we spent two days in Tampa, FL and then flew back to tColumbus to pack up all of our stuff. It's nice because we have four days to get unpacked and settled in Cleveland. That's so much better, because otherwise I might have been packing and hauling of our stuff by myself! I was so grateful to have him with me...he's so strong that moving is really easy! I will take pics of our new place and post them in the next few days. Were staying at the same lofts where Chris stayed last year. They are brand new and only like 5 minutes from the field. It's perfect. For now, here are some pictures from Chris' debut in Tampa....

  1. Awesome! So excited for you guys! Love the quote about all hits being a line drive in the books. Nick says that to me all the time during softball. I reach on errors a lot - obviously much different than the majors, but I can appreciate the quote.
