We got home last night from Minnesota! It was such a fun trip! The Twins new stadium is so nice! So far it is one of my favorites and Chris said it was of his favorites too. Everything is brand new...but not over done. They still kept it like a traditional baseball field...no crazy waterfalls or kids play areas. Just a classic, beautiful ball park. You can tell the fans love the new stadium too. Every game is sold out until Labor Day. So the Indians not only had to face the number one team in the AL central, but also 40,000 screaming, die-hard Twins fans. They are the best fans I have seen since the Indians played the Boston Redsox last year! It makes the games so much more exciting!
The Indians played three games there. They ended up winning 2 out of the 3 games. Chris caught the day game, which was also the last day we were there. He played awesome. He got his first double of the year and made an outstanding diving tag at home plate! It was so fun to watch! You can see a video of his double and of his diving tag on the Indians website! Here's how...
1) To see the video of his diving tag, just go the Indians website (www.indians.com). It is the featured video in the top right hand corner! (It will only be active for a day or two).
2) To see video of his double, go to the Indians website again. Click on "video" along the top of screen in red and white. When the page opens, along the left side of the screen in blue you will see the word "Players." There is a plus sign on the left hand side, if you click the plus sign, a list of Indians players will appear. Select Chris Gimenez. The first video listed is his double from the game in Minnesota! You can also see other videos from his career with Indians. Enjoy!! :)
I took a bunch of pictures of the stadium while we were there. In the first pictures you can see a parachuter landing in the middle of the field with an American Flag hanging from his foot! There were four parachuters that dove into the stadium before the game...the were called the "Leap Frogs." Then below the stadium pictures there are two of Chris playing...one of him catching and one of him at bat. The last picture is of Chris with his high school friend Joe Bress. Joe is out in Minnesota for an internship and was able to come to a couple of the games to see Chris!
