Last night at Safeco field was a huge night. For one, the Yankees were playing the first game of the series at Safeco field. The stands are always packed when the Yankees are in town. It makes the games so much more exciting when there are 30,000 fans cheering! But even more exciting, it was "Viva Las Vargas" night! Playing off the last name of one of the starting pitchers, Jason Vargas, the Mariners marketing team went all out with the Las Vegas theme. The first 10,000 got these Elvis inspired gold sunglasses...they are even more hilarious in person! Additionally, fans were encouraged to dress up like Elvis...and a lot of people did! The Mariners even had an Elvis impersonator marrying people at the field....how romantic!! And finally to end the night, the Mariners gave one lucky fan a trip for two to Las Vegas! Thank goodness the Mariners won...otherwise it could have been a really embarrassing promo. But now that we won, I'm sure we will see fans wearing these gold-beauties all weekend in the hopes that the "viva" power will bring a sweep! :) Saturday, May 28, 2011
