Family Room!

One of the benefits of Chris being with the Rays is the family room. The family room is basically a child care facility at the stadium where the wives can take their kids during the games. The room is full of all sorts of toys, bouncers, play mats, books, a TV and lots of DVDs. They have 5-6 babysitters there every game to watch the kids. So when the wives come to the game we have the option to leave our child in the family room and enjoy just watching the game. Even better, the Rays allow the wives to eat dinner in the catered suite every night! Dinner and a babysitter...I've died and gone to mommy heaven! :).

At first I wasn't sure how much I would use the family room. I mean Jace is really easy during the games and I actually like having him with me! But then we realized it would probably be better for Jace. He is stuck with me 24/7...sometimes I'm the only face he sees, especially when the guys are on the road. A couple weeks ago we started to notice that he was getting anxious and would cry around strangers. Even when he saw other babies he would stick out his lip and start crying! It was hilarious!

So to get him used to being around other people and kids, I've started leaving him in the family room for at least an hour every day. The first day he hated it and was hysterically crying within the first 20 minutes. They called me to come calm him down and it even took me a good 10 minutes to get him to stop crying...that's longer then it took to calm him down when he got his shots! But he has gotten much better since then. It's good practice for both of us because I was really anxious leaving him with someone else! I'd never left him with anyone other then his grand parents so it was hard at first, but now I'm doing better too! Ha ha!

Now when I go to the games I drop him off, get dinner, and watch the game...it's kinda nice to have some me time! And Jace gets to meet other adults, kids and babies! Win, win! :)

  1. I love our nursery, altho Addie can't go in until she's 6 months...that's the Rangers rule! AND our suite isn't catered....I'm gonna have to ask about that! ;-)
