Homemade baby food - Part 1

For Christmas, my brother and his girlfriend got us a baby food maker.  It steams, purée and blends foods all in one!  I decided a long time ago that I was going to try and make most of Jace's baby food so that it doesn't have any preservatives and chemicals in there.  We haven't started Jace on solids yet, but we will probably start in the next week or so.  I'm still in denial that he is old enough to start solids! Ha ha!

I figured while I had some time (Chris is on a long road trip), I should start making some batches of baby food and freeze it.  Then all I have to do is thaw out what he's going to eat the night before and it's ready. So last night I started with the basic...organic brown rice cereal.

I boiled the rice just like I would if I was going to eat it.  Then, puréed it in our handy dandy baby food maker!  Once it was a real soupy consistency I poured it into ice cube trays to freeze over night.  Then this morning I put it in a freezer safe ziplock bag, labeled it and put it in the freezer!  Now I have a month's worth of small brown rice cereal portions.  So easy!  I can grab more then one as his appetite increase, but they say initially he may only eat a teaspoon worth of food.  Next on the list...peas and squash!

Best gift ever!

Individual servings!  Perfect for Jace's little stomach!  He he!
Easy to grab, reheat and serve!
