8 months old!

Jace is turning 8 months old today!! Since we are still at home we were able to take the pictures in the original chair that we started taking pictures in, but the teddy bear we normally use is still in North Carolina!  So we had to use a different bear this time.  After our pictures Jace took the bear's hat off and then repeatedly threw him off the chair while I said "oh-uh" and picked him back up.  It was pretty funny.

Height: 27 3/4"

Weight:  20 lbs.

Clothes: All 12 month size clothes and pjs....he's a little chubby and the 9 month shirts just don't cover his buddha belly anymore! :)

Diapers:  Still size 3!

Firsts this month:
-riding in a shopping cart
-sitting in a high chair at a restaurant
-drinking from a sippy cup
-snorting when he laughs
-standing unassisted
-bobbing head to music
-blowing rasperries (he gets spit everywhere!)
-waving-
-military crawling (07-09-12)
-sitting up on his own (07-13-12)

Likes:
-Dogs...he loves watching the dogs run around, petting them, and getting kisses!
-Eating
-Rolling around and military crawling
-Talking...constantly babbling (ba-ba, da-da, la-la)
Dislikes:
-Being held to fall asleep (tear)....he likes to put himself to sleep in his crib
-Being hot

Stronger:
Jace has gotten so much stronger this month...it's amazing. He first started rolling everywhere...that was how he got around. He started to become a pretty fast rolly-poly! But then he learned how to military crawl and he doesn't roll as much any more. It takes a lot of strength to pull yourself everywhere...he's pretty impressive! He also startred pulling himself back up into a sitting position!  So now he will military crawl to a toy, grab it and then sit up with it to play!  Or when I put him in his crib for a nap he will pull himself up and play for awile with the crib until he gets tired and lays down!   It's crazy how fast he is learning.  And he also started standing unassisted....if I set him next to something he can grab on to he can stand there for a few seconds. Such a strong little boy!

 Baby sign language:
We started teaching Jace sign language this month. We are just doing the basics....eat, drink, water, more, all done, dog, mom, dad, and hurt. We just want him to be able to tell us what he wants before he starts talking. We have a great DVD that has super cheesy songs (you know the ones that get stuck in your head all day?) with an instructor and little kids teaching all the signs. Jace loves watching it....his eyes are seriously glued to it whenever I turn it on. And then Chris and I do the signs when we are feeding him or just throughout the day. Jace just stares at us right now, but I'm sure he will start picking it up in the next couple months. I swear he is already starting to do "eat" (weird). Yesterday when I signed eat he put his hand to his mouth....which is basically the sign. And he did it again this morning....so maybe he will learn them quickly. Or maybe he just likes to eat! Ha ha!

Waving and dancing:
Jace has started waving....or opening and closing his hand. You have to start somewhere right? Ha ha! But I think its pretty cute. He has also started bobbing his head to music....so cute. Here is a video I sent to Chris while we were at home of him showing off both of his new moves! :)
