Pre-game Rituals

Chris has a couple pre-game rituals that he does every day before a home game....and I thought that it would be fun to share them!  :)  Of course, these rituals have become rituals because they supposedly bring hits.  Whether I believe that or not is another story, ha ha!  But here they are...

The first begins before he walks into the club house.  Every day, Chris drives to the field with two other players and they make a pit-stop at Dunkin Donuts.  But it's not what you think...they aren't carbo-loading on a dozen glazed donuts.  They all get an iced coffee, with a turbo shot, a little cream and two Splendas.  Chris says it is easily one of the top five coffees he has ever had.  He says the Splenda makes it nice because it adds just enough sweetness to the black coffee....plus all the sugar settles to the bottom so it gets sweeter as he drinks it.  So the three of them all drive to the field, drinking their iced coffees and chatting about baseball and the amazing-ness that is Dunkin Donuts.

The second tradition was introduced to Chris by our room mate, Stephen.  Every day, he and his wife drink a Zip Fizz.  A Zip Fizz is a powder supplement that you add to water that is chalk full of vitamins, especially B vitamins.  It is supposed to help boost your immune system and give you energy without having caffeine.  Stephen swears by them and says that he hasn't had a cold since he started drinking them.  So every day, if Chris is playing, he will down a water bottle full of water and zip fizz to give him a little energy and hydration before the game.

Now that he has been playing so well (knock on wood) since he has started doing these two things consistently he HAS to do them every day.  What is it with baseball players and there superstitions??  Ha ha!  But who am I to argue...and I think it is kind of fun that he has his daily routines.  Whatever works right?  :)

  1. I can vouch for the Zipfizz -- it's good stuff! Plus a little bit of trivia: alcohol can deplete your body of vitamin B so Zipfizz is a great hangover prevention drink too :)

  2. Good to know! Now that I think about it....wasn't it part of the hangover packet you gave out at your wedding? :)
