Since I have been traveling so much, I haven't been able to make all the homemade baby food that I aspired to make. So I set out to find an organic baby food that had no preservatives, artificial colors, with no salt or sweeteners. And I was pleasantly surprised when I came across Earth's Best baby food. This stuff is amazing....for example the jar of carrots literally has carrots and water! Perfect!! Jace has tried all of their different kinds of food....carrots, sweet peas, squash, prunes, bananas, raspberries, blueberries, zucchinis, apples, and we have even started trying their meat and vegetable dinners like sweet pea, turkey and rice. Sounds gross...but Jace seems to love every variety that they have!
While he eats he still loves to "help." He is constantly trying to grab the spoon and put it in his mouth. While I love his independence, it sure takes a lot longer. If he's really hungry he will let me shovel it in his mouth unassisted for a few minutes, but then he gets bored again and wants to help. My peditrician hands out a pamphlet every time we go in for a checkup and it actually mentions this in the 6 month handout. She suggested giving them another spoon to play with while you feed them....then hopefully they will play with one spoon while you feed them with the other. Well Jace was much too smart for this...I mean he has two hands. So if I give him one spoon he will still try and grab the spoon I'm feeding him with! So I tried giving him two spoons...two hands, two spoons. He absolutely loves it...and waves them around like he is so proud! But then he sticks those spoons in his mouth making it nearly impossible for me to feed him. So needless to say, feeding him has been a little time consuming, but we are figuring it out! :)

This month we have also been experimenting with some table foods...or basically foods that he has to feed himself. I tried these little puffs....basically like Cheerios but they dissolve in their mouth. He seems to like them when I feed them to him, but he hasn't quite figured out how to pick up something that small and he ends up just pushing it around on the tray. But he does like "mum mum's." Aunt Katie was the first to tell me about these...Jace's cousin Charlie loved them when he was Jace's age. They are organic rice husks...basically little dissolvable crackers that babies can hold. Jace loves being able to feed himself and will suck/bite on these for like 30 minutes. It's perfect for when I'm trying to make or eat dinner. We just have to be careful he doesn't bite off more then he can chew...excuse the pun! :) Ha ha!

We use Earths Best formula and food and Addie loves it too!! I think our babies sometimes eat better than us with all the meals they have to offer! Addie loves the "Gourmet" meals they have-she's gonna be in trouble when she realizes we don't eat like that in the real world-haha! And I'm so glad you posted about the Mum Mums bc I've been tempted to buy them, but wasn't sure about them..I'll def give it a try now.
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I've thought the same thing! Jace is going to be so bored when he is eating what I'm eating....especially when Chris on the road! LOL! Yeah...Jace LOVES the mum mums! It took him a while to get used to it, but now he loves them! You'll have to let me know how Addie likes them!
